I started going to Frank’s lessons after seeing some tutorial videos on Youtube and I must say that it was a more than right decision. Frank is a true master of the Hammond organ and the blues, his approach is aimed at letting you find your own voice o this amazing instrument.

Als Master of Music student met een voorliefde voor het Hammond Orgel en een extern budget kwam ik al snel op het idee om Frank in te zetten als een van drie hoofddocenten. Nu anderhalf jaar in de opleiding geniet ik nog steeds van elke les. Het gaat bij frank niet alleen om spel en techniek maar misschien nog wel meer om Visie, Feeling, interpretatie en simpliciteit.
Dankzij Frank ben ik niet alleen technisch beter gaan spelen hij heeft er ook mede voor gezorgd dat ik binnen een jaar een bijna volledig andere muzikant ben geworden. Geweldig!!! Hammond les is zoveel meer dan alleen spelen onze gesprekken over de Hammond wereld zijn minstens zo interessant.

I highly recommend taking lessons with Frank Montis whatever your level of playing is. It’s a unique and rare opportunity to learn from one of the true Master of the Blues on the Hammond organ today.  I feel really privileged to be able to learn from Frank. His sense of time and groove is phenomenal. His sense of harmony and soloing is always tasteful and interesting. He knows and will teach you the very vast Hammond organ repertoire. Frank is a great human being and patient teacher. His lessons are in the form of short video clips of him playing, built around specific exercises/songs usually around a Blues form that progressively increases in difficulty. Exercises are fun to play and very musical.

If you are wanting to learn to play a Hammond Organ (or one of many clones) I recommend taking lessons from someone that plays a Hammond and not just a piano teacher.  I highly recommend Frank as your teacher.
From Frank, I have learned how to set up the instrument prior to playing a single note.  Not only what to adjust, but what the adjustment does.  The screen view, that as a student, I saw was not only very professionally done, but made viewing lessons easy.  If you are not used to using Zoom, you will be in for a treat.

Frank is truly a master of the Hammond organ and the blues, I have been playing organ for years but I am now beginning to use the organ as a whole orchestra thanks to Franks great lessons

Al jaren had ik de ambitie om echt Hammond te leren spelen. De stijl, de sound, het soleren, improviseren. Niet vanuit piano of keyboard, maar echt op basis van het hammond orgel met al zijn specifieke kenmerken en speelwijze.
De techniek van het hammond orgel bespelen is heel specifiek en waar vind je nu een echt goede docent/coach om je daarin te kunnen bekwamen? Nou, bij Frank en Hammondlessons.com! Techniek, timing, opvatting en stapsgewijs ‘vrij worden’ in je solo’s en improvisaties, dat is waar Frank je vanuit zijn ervaring en eigen stijl in kan begeleiden. ‘Een goede solo is zoveel meer dan alleen maar snel veel noten spelen.’
Met als basis de blues, maar toepasbaar in elke andere stijl: funk, soul, rock, pop, noem maar op.
De lessen zijn heel prettig, duidelijke bladmuziek en video’s om zelf te oefenen, dat maakt het echt uniek. Daarbij is Frank zelf ook een zeer prettig en geduldig persoon die je het vertrouwen geeft om te groeien. Een voorrecht om les te krijgen van zijn niveau. Ik kan in ieder geval jaren vooruit en kan het iedereen aanraden die de liefde voor het Hammond orgel deelt of wil ontdekken!

Frank has been my mentor for several years now, teaching me step by step to learn the Hammond blues language, timing and groove.
As a student from the very beginning, I am proud of the way in which he has set up his online Hammond lessons practice and shares his knowledge and skills to an ever-growing group of Hammond players.

I have attempted to take keyboard lessons several times throughout my adolescent and adult life. None of the teaching methods involved would seem to spark my flame and satisfy my impatient soul enough to make me sincerely want to take on the struggle. Frank’s hands-on, fun-first approach – sprinkled with some deeper analysis where appropriate and helpful – really makes the difference. He helps me to help myself become a better player.

Frank Montis speelt als geen ander hammond. Hij is een internationaal gerespecteerde uitvoerende muzikant. Daarnaast is hij ook nog eens een uitstekende docent. Wekelijks volg ik met veel plezier zijn lessen. De lessen kennen een duidelijke opbouw en centreren rond groove, ritmiek en timing. De lessen worden steeds een beetje ingewikkelder zodat ik stukje bij beetje mijn vaardigheden kan verbeteren. Naast het aanleren van bepaalde patronen leer ik hoe ik solo’s kan uitbouwen. Frank stuurt me elke week een oefening op notenschrift en een korte film zodat de beheersing van het notenschrift geen absolute must is. De online lessen zijn fantastisch vormgegeven. Naast de lay out van een hammond is frank als docent in beeld en kan hij visueel duidelijk maken hoe ik bepaalde onderdelen kan verbeteren. 
Daarnaast is Frank ook nog eens een uitstekende coach die  ingaat op de mindset van het spelen. Juist door focus en intentie met elkaar in evenwicht te brengen leer ik gaandeweg mijn speelstijl verbeteren. Frank begeleidt dit proces op fantastische wijze.
Ik zou Frank als docent voor eenieder van harte willen aanbevelen, of je nou beginner bent of gevorderde. De lessen van Frank zijn op maat en voor eenieder een verrijking.

Frank has expanded my musical vocabulary of chords, phrases and styles. He helps me understand not only “what” and “how” to play, but also why, when and where to play something.
In addition to being a fantastic player, Frank is a great listener, and a very patient, encouraging teacher. He has a wealth of knowledge – from the “back catalogue” of historical and present Hammond greats, to general music theory and composition, to modern multimedia technology. Most importantly, he methodically imparts his knowledge without overwhelming the student.
The value Frank delivers far exceeds the cost of his lessons. I highly recommend anyone who wants to progress in their musical journey to get in touch with Frank immediately. This is a golden opportunity!

I found Frank through some of his videos online, most memorably his tribute to Ray Charles. I enjoyed his playing style and was pleasantrly surprised when he started offering lessons.
I was initially anxious about taking Hammond lessons because I had never played organ before and thought I’d be too much of a beginner. Frank is…..awesome! He put me at ease and I look forward to our lessons and time together which are fun and his patience with this beginner keep me relaxed.
I’ve seen a great improvement in my playing and I find his step-by-step approach really helpful as I can see progress and perhaps more importantly,  I become more and more relaxed when playing Hammond.

I started playing Piano at a very early age and I have been a working Musician for over 20 years. I always loved the sound of Hammond and always did my best to recreate it with varying degrees of success!
