Licks & Brains is a new vibrant project in the Dutch NuJazz scene combining a full big band line-up with modern jazz sounds and club dance grooves. Band director is alto saxofonist Rolf Delfos, renowned front man of successful jazz bands such as the Houdini’s, Artvark Saxophone quartet, and the Jazzinvaders. Licks & Brains has recently recorded their third album entitled “Buzzin’”. It features Dutch top soloists Tom Beek on tenor and Rik Mol on trumpet and the vocals of Laura Vane (UK), Frank Montis and Lo van Gorp. All tracks are composed and arranged in the unique Licks & Brains style, best described as ‘Danceable NuJazz XXL’.
